Jetta TDI Cup Airs on Speed Channel
Hey, this is pretty cool, seems that the VW Jetta TDi Cup, where they take diesels and actually race them, will be on TV. On the Speed Channel no less (ah, the need for off-season programming). The coverage starts Sunday, October 26, 2008, and is actually on at a decent hour.
This will, in short, help.

And by help, I mean make more environmentally friendly cars funner to drive, eventually (you know, win on Sunday sell on Monday & track stuff eventually turns into street stuff). It will also help make more environmentally friendly cars a more viable proposition to the racing crowd (perhaps a tougher nut to crack).
Besides, as much fun as it is to be out at the track, watching and hearing and using all your senses to take it in, you can follow the whole of the race much better on TV. Very rarely do you say, while watching a race on TV, “What the hell happened to Bob? He just didn’t come around.” I can’t tell you the number of times I said that at a track … only to have it answered 90 minutes later when you see so-and-so’s car being hauled back into the paddock, leaking WAY too much oil.
