First 2010 Camaro sold for $350k
Someone out there definitely thinks the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro will be a classic. The right to have the first Camaro off the assembly line was sold at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction this weekend for $350,000.
The winning bidder will be able to spec out the new car to his/her choosing. Likely this could represent a larger premium paid for the Camaro car then the first Corvette ZR1 that was sold last year for $1 million. A top-of-the-line Camaro SS retails for $33,430, but a few option packages added by the winning bidder should put the MSRP closer to $40,000. A Corvette ZR1 (3RZ) retails for $116,520 and doesn’t really need options. By comparison, the $350,000 paid for the Camaro (at $40,000 retail) represents a 775% markup, while the $1 million paid for the Corvette ZR1 (at $116,520) represents about a 758% markup.
