Alfa TZ3 headed for production?
The TZ3 Corsa built by Zagato at the request of a wealthy German car collector could be given the green light for a limited production run. Alfa fans rejoice! This unique car presented at Villa d’Este in April 2010 is a worthy descendant of the race-going TZs and TZ2s from the 1960s. There’s a catch, though: instead of riding on 8C Competizione platform like the existing car it will be based on the Dodge Viper and use the defunct sports car’s 600hp 8.4 V10 engine. The Viper-based TZ3, christened the TZ3 Stradale, will be longer and wider than the existing car and the new platform adds over 1,200 pounds to the car, a rather worrying statistic. It might wear a Zagato badge instead of an Alfa badge. German magazine Auto Bild reports the TZ3 Stradale will be officially presented next August at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California and that the first cars might arrive in early 2012.
